Virtual Assistants seem to be the fixer of all problems in the small biz world.
Need help with your social media? Graphic design? General biz admin?
We can do it all, and we can do it without you needing to coordinate 3+ freelancers and make sure they work together seamlessly.
Knowing VAs are an integral part to the success of your small biz is one thing, but actually knowing when to hire one is a whole other thing.
So, when do you need to hire a VA?
The short answer: sooner than you’d think.
The long answer: coming your way now!
The red flags of doing it all yourself
When you start a new biz, you quickly become a pro at DIY.
YouTube tutorials replace your reality TV binging (except for the Queen herself, of course).
WikiHow articles replace your daily Buzzfeed quizzes on which Drag Queen you’re most aligned with.
Professional development books replace your occasional dip into the fiction world.
You get the picture! We all become so good at doing everything ourselves that we start to convince ourselves we don’t need help.
Even when we have the budget to get help.
And even more so when we really need the help.
If you’re saying any of these red flag statements, it’s a pretty good sign you need to re-evaluate your outsourcing (or lack of outsourcing) choices:
🚩 “I’m so burnt out, but who isn’t?”
🚩 “It doesn’t matter if that important business growth task is pushed into next week, or even next month, I just need to focus on client work.”
🚩 “I don’t really love how much I work, but no one can do it like I can.”
And, the biggest red flag of all:
“I’m overwhelmed and I don’t know how to NOT be.”
Let’s face it, girlfriend. Your inability to outsource comes from already being too far into the deep end of overwhelm.
You know that outsourcing requires work at the beginning.
You know that you’ll have to set aside hours in your work week for training and handovers.
You know that eats into your work time and you think you don’t have enough hours in the day or week or month or lifetime to actually make it happen.
That’s why you need to outsource before you hit the rock bottom of overwhelm.
Here are the yellow flags you can look out for that’ll tell you loud and clear you need a helping hand.
💛 “I’m getting a little busier, but I think I can still manage it on my own for now.”
💛 “I have the budget to outsource, but I just don’t know if I have quite enough work to hand over yet.”
💛 “My business is growing faster than I expected, but it might slow down and I don’t want to have to let anyone go.”
Here’s the honest to RuPaul truth: hiring a team of VAs frees up your mental space as well as physical space in your calendar, which makes it so much easier for you to keep growing your business.
You’re not going to have to let us go.
You’re going to get more work.
It will be worth your time.
“But I’m already overwhelmed! Can’t I get help?”
Of course you can, lovely! It’s just going to take a bit more from you in the short term to reduce your overwhelm in the long term.
It might mean adding a few hours into your week to do a proper handover. But the more time you spend with your VA training them and setting up your systems, the quicker you’ll see results from handing over the reins.
Whether you’re approaching overwhelm or have already tripped and fallen to the stressy messy rock bottom, it’s time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and slide into the DMs of a team of VAs you trust most.
Of course, the Hali Helper team are always here to help, so slide into our DMs to chat about how you can get a helping hand in your biz.
